PRF is an abbreviation for the term platelet-rich fibrin, which in translation means "platelet enriched fibrin". More recently, in complex dental procedures, fibrin is used for better bone and soft tissue healing, and serves as an ideal preparation for surgical procedures preceding implants, and is also applied at the same time when inserting implants.
PRF is a safe method for the patient because the patient's blood is exclusively used. The process begins with the extraction of the patient's blood into special tubes, which, after further processing, separates in the dedicated centrifuge. Separating blood from red cells is a very fast and simple process that produces plasma and fibrin, which are later used as biological autotransplant. PRF is used in cases of alveoli preservation and preparations for future implantation, jaw defects after surgery, sinus lift procedure, in the treatment of recession ect.
In this case, immediately after the removal of the tooth, implantation was performed and bone enhancement was performed using a combination of artificial bone and A-PRF with rich growth factors.
